Families are invited to experience and learn about Spa Creek at the Kids on the Creek event, Saturday August 24 from 11am-3pm at the Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis and the adjacent Severn Sailing Association.
This is a new location for Kids on the Creek after a three year hiatus due to the closure of water access at Truxtun Park.
Members of Eastport Yacht Club will offer free boat rides. Visitors can board a boat and cruise from the mouth of Spa Creek to the headwaters. Onboard guides will point out landmarks and preservation efforts along Spa Creek.
Activities will include:
Each child will receive a Spa Creek Passport to personalize and complete the scavenger hunt. The entire campus of the Eastport Yacht Club and Severn Sailing Association will be open with learning and activity stations geared towards youth ages 5-17.
Boat rides are on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by a responsible adult. Life jackets are required for all.
Come early after you pre-register for a boat ride and be one of the first to get on a boat.
*Boat rides are for children ages 5 and up. Due to limited space only one parent allowed with children ages 5-8. No parents for children over the age of 8.
Parking will be available at Yacht Haven, 326 First Street, and at Eastport Elementary School, a 4-block walk to Eastport Yacht Club. A shuttle will be available at the elementary school to shuttle families from the school to the event.
