CRAB Cup

| CRAB Cup is Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating’s (CRAB) largest fundraising event of the year. Each year, close to 100 sailboats compete in the family-friendly and always competitive CRAB Cup pursuit race. CRAB’s six adaptive sailboats are skippered by athletes with disabilities and compete against the 18 other classes of boats. Our power-boating friends participate in the Poker Pursuit competition. The sailing pursuit race and powerboat poker run precede the award-winning shore party, which typically finds over 500 of CRAB’s closest friends and supporters at the Eastport Yacht Club. The shore party features live music by Unified Jazz Ensemble and Misspent Youth, delicious food served by Boatyard Bar & Grill, and wonderful auction and raffle items.
Each part of CRAB Cup directly benefits CRAB’s mission of bringing quality to life one sail at a time for people with disabilities, recovering warriors, and children from underserved communities. This year CRAB is celebrating it’s 35th anniversary, along with celebrating the 20th annual CRAB Cup. This year’s event is going to be as special as these milestones. The Skipper’s Challenge is a peer-to-peer fundraising competition that precedes the CRAB Cup. This competition invites all community members – sailors or not – to create a team and race to raise the most money in support of CRAB’s mission. |
Shore Party
The CRAB Cup Shore Party brings more than 600 people together each year to support adaptive boating programs.
The party is held at Eastport Yacht Club and starts immediately following the race at 4:00 pm. Entertainment begins with the Unified Jazz Ensemble, one of Annapolis’ most popular bands. The always fantastic Misspent Youth will follow them. They are Maryland’s best cover band! Delicious food is provided by our founding sponsor, Boatyard Bar & Grill. This event has won “Non Profit Sports Event” from the readers of What’s Up! Annapolis in 2024.
